There is a Place

There is a place
in the heart’s dark chamber
where something plays
a silent tune in soundless rain
and it says –

it is there, it is there, someone’s touch
how much I hope to believe in it
to take from one cup with warm lips

though today
to love too much can only show its fear

The hungry body cannot forget
the heart’s fire and its hunger
for when the stomach’s hunger shouts
the heart’s fire is a forest blazing

I know, I know for sure
this hunger will find a way
past hordes of people, and –

one day you too with me
will sing a song of hunger
a song of life, a poem of love –

to give birth to a dream of fragrance
and I shall be a mother again
to the rich promise of a new generation . . .
