Woodstar
sculpture by David Gourlay
it has the beauty of a world in space
a curvature of sycamore and oak
in small light triangles
it has the craft of a designing race
a minor cosmos, planets round a sun
one world or several
several, several
lines so finely cut, and streaming rays
conjoined in the first matter
it has the first trace and the latest trace
almost evanescent, it hangs in place
